Five researchers from The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) are leading innovative new projects that have received major funding from Canada Foundation for Innovation鈥檚 Innovation Fund. They will be funded for a total of $14.5 million, part of $42 million going to 麻豆社 scientists.

Findings of 麻豆社 study could lead to new longevity therapies and improved fall prevention

A new 麻豆社 study has found a direct link between age鈥憆elated declines in neuron activity in the cerebellum and worsening motor skills, including gait, balance and agility. While it is well known that these abilities diminish with age, this is the first research to pinpoint how changes in Purkinje cells 鈥 a key type of cerebellar neuron 鈥 drive this decline and translate into measurable changes in behaviour and physical function.

The afternoon featured expert talks on pressing topics in brain and heart health, along with a reception and scientific poster session led by Montreal-based trainees.
