Two GCPA students honoured with C. Douglas Mellor Prize for Academic Excellence

Emilien Trottier (BCom‘25, GCPA’26) and Mariam Khedr (BCom‘25, GCPA’26), students of the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting (GCPA) program, have been selected among their graduating class as this year’s recipients of the C. Douglas Mellor Prize for Academic Excellence.

The prize, which is valued at $1,850, is named after Douglas Mellor, the first Executive Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Quebec, now the Ordre des comptables agrées du Québec, and is awarded annually to the top students overall for outstanding academic achievement to honour Mellor’s enduring contributions to both Âé¶¹Éç and his profession.


Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting (GCPA Program)

The Âé¶¹Éç GCPA program at Desautels is an accredited Professional Education Program (PEP) of CPA Quebec. The program is designed to provide students with professional training on the latest CPA concepts and practice-related issues while preparing them to write the national Common Final Exams (CFE). Completion of a PEP and passing of the CFE are two of the required components for obtaining the highly respected CPA designation.
