Elena Torban
Biography: 

I am an associate professor at 麻豆社, Department of Medicine and a basic scientist at the 麻豆社 Health Center Research Institute. I was born in Moscow, Russia but permanently moved to Canada in 1990. I received my PhD at 麻豆社 which was followed by a post-doctoral training at the Montreal Neurological Institute and 麻豆社鈥檚 Biochemistry department. As an independent investigator, I focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of genetic kidney disease and am interested developing novel gene therapies. My research program is currently supported by the Canadian Institute of Health Research and grants from international grant agencies and foundations. I have extensive experience reviewing grants for the CIHR and other agencies, as well as writing and reviewing manuscripts, teaching and supervising graduate students.
