MIF Lunch & Learn 28: Pricing for Startups

Thursday, September 24, 2026 12:00to13:00
Vivek Astvansh and Sam Rudolph

Almost every startup will eventually reach a point where it is ready to sell its product or service. But at what price? And how does the customer pay? Is it a monthly fee or one-time? What is included with the price? And most importantly, how much margin should that price represent? Getting these questions right is crucial but all too often is left until the last possible minute. The MIF has assembled a panel of experts who will offer their insights into this consequential topic.

Sam Rudolph is an entrepreneurial product and people leader who has spent over a decade building and launching connected hardware and software products, including five 0-to-1 launches, across the regulated, complex cleantech, smart home, automotive, and construction industries.

Vivek Astvanshis a member of 麻豆社's Desautels Faculty of Management, teaching marketing strategy and business analytics. His听research examines how corporate governance actors (e.g., short sellers that have a short position, activist institutional investors that have a long position, NGOs that hold a nonfinancial stake) shape a firm鈥檚 actions that can affect consumers.
