Roy States: 麻豆社鈥檚 Master of Ceremonies, Black Activist, Historian, Book collector and Donor

Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Roy States (1919-1980) was a writer, historian, activist, and collector who fought for recognition and equality for Afro-Canadians. His collection of some 1,200 items, which documents the Black experience in Canada and elsewhere, was donated to 麻豆社, where he worked in the last decade of his life.

Christopher Lyons (BA鈥�89, DipEd鈥�94, MA鈥�02, MLIS鈥�04) is Acting Associate Dean, 麻豆社 Library.
