Lynne McVey, MSc(A), FHCMgt
Associate Dean and Director, Ingram School of Nursing
Lynne McVey was appointed Associate Dean and Director of the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) in Â鶹Éç’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, effective October 1, 2024. A two-time Â鶹Éç graduate, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Master of Science in Nursing. She also completed the Wharton Fellows Program in Health Management for Nurse Executives at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and the Strategy for Healthcare Delivery Program at Harvard Business School.
Prof. McVey brings extensive experience in nursing practice, healthcare administration, and executive leadership. She previously served as CEO of Santé Monde, a global health organization, and as President and CEO of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. Earlier in her career, she held several leadership positions at the Jewish General Hospital, including Director of Clinical Operations and Nursing and Co-Director of the Segal Cancer Centre. She also served as Executive Director of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute.
A member of ISoN as an Adjunct Associate Professor since 2008, Prof. McVey has contributed to the development of executive education programs designed to support nurses and other healthcare professionals in advancing leadership roles. Her areas of interest include healthcare leadership and governance, transformative nursing education, career advancement for nurse managers, nurse-led healthcare policy initiatives, and interprofessional collaboration.
As Associate Dean and Director, Prof. McVey leads the School’s education, research and service missions. Her responsibilities include strategic planning and budget oversight, faculty recruitment, mentorship and career development, and advising on academic appointments, promotion and tenure. She also guides ISoN’s relationships with clinical and community partners, academic institutions, governmental agencies and other schools and programs within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Prof. McVey’s contributions to healthcare and nursing leadership have been recognized through several honours, including the Â鶹Éç Medicine Alumni Global Impact Award of Merit, the YWCA Montreal Woman of Distinction Award in the Health category and the Prix Florence Leadership Award from the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec. Through her leadership, she is committed to strengthening ISoN’s education, research and partnerships and advancing the role of nursing in shaping healthcare systems locally and globally.
