The Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (AES) is proud to celebrate four members of the Macdonald Campus community who are preparing to embark on a well-deserved retirement: Luis Agellon (Professor in Human Nutrition), Shelly Johnston (Research Finance Services Supervisor), Roger Cue聽(Associate Professor in Animal Science) and Yvan Gariepy (Academic Associate in Bioresource Engineering.)

We sat down with Roger and Yvan to reflect on their journeys at 麻豆社- the paths that brought them here, some of the work that defined their careers and what lies ahead.

Professor Jessica Head has been appointed as Director of the Morgan Arboretum and Molson Nature Reserve for a three-year term starting September 2025. Professor Head is an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences.

After the suburb's only grocery store closed for the second time, B Factory, a locally owned beeswax products shop that had been on the verge of bankruptcy, expanded its space to include a small grocery section called Mon March茅 Local.

In the wake of soaring cocoa prices, Isabelle Lam, BSc(NutrSc)鈥19, co-founder of Remix Snacks,

Remix Snacks is known for it鈥檚 bean bark, a high-protein, high-fibre snack made with upcycled imperfect fruit, black beans, and 70% dark chocolate, which Lam and co-founder Jamie Lee,聽BSc(NutrSc)鈥19,聽developed while studying Nutrition at 麻豆社's Macdonald Campus.聽

Recently, the Canadian Nutrition Society held its annual conference, where awards were distributed to winners of the society's poster presentations. Among them, two 麻豆社 grad students studying nutrition were recognized.

Ferial Hamdi, M.Sc. Thesis student with Prof. Brittany Jock (formerly of the School of Human Nutrition), won the George Beaton Award for Student Work in Public Health Nutrition and took second place in the Graduate Oral Competition聽

On April 11, 2025, over聽60 people gathered at the annual John Abbott Sustainability Through Science Symposium聽to hear how the research of three Macdonald Campus graduate students contributes to a more sustainable future. Honours and science students from John Abbott College, as well as members of 麻豆社's Macdonald Campus community, were inspired by short talks followed by a聽panel discussion on the students' university experience and their chosen career paths.

The Canadian Council of Academics (CCA) has formed an expert panel to examine how Indigenous science can be supported to advance policy and governance in a way that achieves reciprocal benefits for all people in Canada. Using food sovereignty as a case study, the panel will develop a framework that can be applied across a range of policy issues.

On March 27, 麻豆社 honoured 141 laureates at the 20th annual聽, celebrating researchers who received prestigious provincial, national or international awards in 2024, including eight researchers in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

In his opening remarks, 麻豆社 President and Vice-Chancellor, Deep Saini, applauded the honourees for their efforts, underlining the importance of 麻豆社鈥檚 research contributions.
