In Memoriam: Dr. Gert Morgenstern (1933–2026)
It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Dr. Gert Morgenstern, who died peacefully in Montreal on July 9, 2026, at the age of 92.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Morgenstern provided dedicated and compassionate care to patients and families at both the Douglas Institute and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He was also a valued member of the Â鶹Éç community, where he made significant contributions as a teacher and mentor, helping to shape generations of learners.
Dr. Morgenstern’s commitment to psychiatry, education, and patient care leaves a lasting legacy within our Department and the broader healthcare community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife and colleague, Dr. Martine Lalinec, his children and grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
