The energy and camaraderie was truly flowing among the 45 attendees at this year's reception for new members. Members enjoyed catching up with colleagues, making new friends and meeting the MURA Executive & Board. Past-Principal Suzanne Fortier was presented with 聽a lifetime honorary membership for her unwavering support of MURA during her tenure at 麻豆社.

Over forty members had the pleasure of attending a cozy fireside chat with The Right Honourable David L. Johnston, C.C., Governor General of Canada, 2010-2017, and Chair of the Rideau Hall Foundation. The chat was moderated by Michael C. Kiefer, 麻豆社鈥檚 first VP Advancement, who posed questions submitted by members before the event. Various topics included Canadian multi-culturalism and the role of the monarchy in our constitution. He talked about his book Trust: Twenty ways to build a better country, which explores ways to ensure individuals, their institutions and their country are more worthy of trust. The chat was followed by a book signing where many retirees had the opportunity to meet with their former esteemed colleague.
The Rideau Hall Foundation serves Canadians through a range of initiatives linked to learning, leadership, giving and innovation.
Walking Tour -聽Demystifying the Mile End

Eighteen members participated in a walking tour of the Mile End neighbourhood where they learned the answers to many questions: why is the area called Mile End, why are Montreal's two most famous bagel bakeries located there, what communities call (or called) it home? They saw how it is a crazy mix of mansions and workers' flats, stylish inter-war apartment blocks and 21st-century coops, small (and large) local businesses, workshops, factories, warehouses and much else. This tour certainly provided information that decoded the Mile End's mysteries. After the tour members quenched their thirsts and enjoyed a delightful meal at the on St. Laurent.

Advanced paternal age (APA) is associated with a wide range of adverse effects on progeny. Although the exact mechanism underlying this association are yet to be resolved, sperm chromatin quality in both animal models and man in APA. Spontaneous mutations, oxidative stress and DNA breaks are increased in spermatozoa of older males. We have examined how APA affects progeny outcome in animal models and how gene expression is altered with APA in both animals and man.
